8 hours in the shoes of a salesman - Part 4

March 03, Saturday

8th hour

The final visit to the store began around 6pm as usual with the setting up of the stall and as usual on this weekend the stall was crowded and today there were 2 more salesmen in the stall and hence i could get some time from the chief salesman and asked him questions regarding his future plans.

I discussed about expanding the sales territory and possibilities of delivering to homes were discussed. Actually spent 2 hours and took a survey from a random sample of 7 customers asking for their annual income, age and location and their opinion about the stall. Most were labourers, students, working men and some ladies visited the stall often.

Introduction of new variants and customers' perception about these new variants. Many customers ordered based on their taste and preference and hence my salesman was more concerned about customerization to maintain the existing customers.

All these days being with the salesman was a great learning experience, not only i put myself into the shoes of a salesman but also observed the way he attracts customers and increase his sales and being with them, I suggested ways and ideas of increasing their business by expanding his sales territory, moving to different areas, opening up few more stalls so that they can better be noticed.
