1/8th day in the shoes of a Salesman.
Day before yesterday, i.e Sunday 12th Feb'12, starting from around 1-ish I spent 3 hours with praful bhai and kannu bhai in their kirana stores i.e Hari Om Traders. As said earlier he has been in this business since around 7-8 years but in this store for about 3 months. But in three months he has gained a lot of attention from his customers. As I stood there, and observed the sales, I saw a lot of customers come, purchase their requirements and leave with a happy face. Not only this but whenever he got phone calls from his customers, he took the order on the phone and immediately sent one of the guys to send the products. He says, we love to serve our customers with timely service.
There is a CCD just next to the store. So mostly there are youngsters roaming around there. Because of which many come and smoke right next to the store. It is so frequent that he also gives them smokes on credit because he trusts his customers. I enjoyed these 3 hours as they also served me lunch at around 2.30ish and did not even charge me for it. I learned from these 3 hours that, anyhow, you gotta keep your customers happy by behaving politely and providing them timely service.
