Ek salesman ki gaatha:

His name is Muhammed, but people call him 'salesman'. He did not get into this profession after watching Rocket Singh or after hearing something; he came into this profession as he had to feed a family of four and save up money for his sister's wedding.

I met him in Big Bazaar, Kharghar where he does his shift in additional overtime. He studied till 10th and because of monetary imbalance he decided to drop his further education. What all he does not have is not important but through years of experiencs, he has mastered the most appreciative art we call “sales” -  he knows how to sell a product and also “why people buy” which makes him a compelling salesman.

To sale a product is an art which leave most of the people shocked as a good salesman can sell his customer anything by his /her convincing abilities and professional tone, and these all things were there in “Muhammed”. He knew every possible price tag, size, of any product which was possibly present in Big Bazaar. His ability to convince people makes his work easy as he knows the “achilles heel” of his customers because of his expierence. He talks to his customer, gets to know what he/ she has in mind, their attitudes towards the product and then pursue them till they buy that product.

His shift starts by 8:00 in the morning till 8:00 in the night. In this time shift he takes care of warehouse, assortment of products, refilling of products and last but not the least to sell products. He knows how to sandwich the price of the product; for example, during “sabse saste paanch din”, Garnier came with an offer on their deodorant where they gave 1+1 at Rs.150 but the catch was  that they gave lesser volume with respect to ml. This offer initially took off but many some customers outsmarted the offer by calculating that they are not gaining any profit in this deal.  This is where Muhammed comes into the picture -  what he did is firstly he started telling qualities and the USP of that deodrant, in between he said the price and after that he again said some qualities of that product and as a result people bought that deodrant without wasting a second.
