One day in the shoe of a salesman is an activity where we have to spend a day with a salesman and observe and learn the way he/she sells his/her product. The person I chose as a salesman is my cousin pooja bhanushali. She owns a retail store, kind of a stationary shop in front of a school in thane. The major business of the shop comes from the sale of sim cards and mobile recharges. Selling sim cards is a real tough job, specially the mobile services that are new in the market and not known to the people. She does her job well and this is what I wanted to learn from her. So I went to her shop in the afternoon. There came a man to buy a sim card. He specifically wanted a Vodafone sim card. But pooja’s target was to sell him a cheers sim card (a new service). She gave him several Vodafone sim cards to choose his number and simultaneously was informing him about the card and its services. Then she informed him about the documents to be submitted and the price of the card. The card was for Rs. 99.  When he selected his number, she informed him about a scheme that she offered him. The scheme was such that if he paid extra Rs. 30 he would get a balance of Rs. 150 just for Rs. 129. The customer liked the offer and purchased both the sim cards. In this way she was successful in selling a cheers sim card which otherwise no one would purchase.
