A day in the shoe of a salesman
This incident took place a few days back where I met this selu who was selling a simple balm which is practically available in all parts of the day and in all stores as possible. This incident which I witnessed is in the rural part of India and in a bus stand.
This selu comes into practically all the buses standing in the bus stand to pitch in for his product as he knows the idle nature of people in the bus and this creates an involuntary attention towards him. He pitches his product with a loud voice to overcome the buzzing in the bus and the engine’s roar. The moment he pitched in with a unique voice modulation all the passengers got silent leaving the engine to roar alone.
This guy takes out his product which people including me thought of not purchasing as balm is very much available but his starting pitch was a unique one where he focused on 5 frequent problems faced by people and its cure that is his product which are:
1. Cold
2. Sore throat
3. Head ache
4. Running nose
5. Restless ness
He takes out a thermo coal and pours a little bit of his balm which quickly dissolves the material in seconds and says that the toughest of materials are vanished in seconds so think of the cold in your throat but warns that it should be applied outside. Within moments 9 guys purchased the product.
It was an incredible experience
