Two hour in shoes of salesman, when I heard of this activity first time I found this, kind of weird one. For the sake of completion I started for looking salesman with whom I can interact. On Saturday evening I visited a hospital with a friend as he was not feeling well. There I found a Medical Representative who is working for Netco Pharmaceuticals. As he was sitting next to me, I started talking to him. I get to know he is from Thane and a science graduate. He told me that as he has family responsibilities so he started this job in his second year, from two years he is doing this job. I ask about challenges he faces during his work. He said he has to travel a lot and also for him target customers are doctors. To approach them he has to be humble and smart, also a good communication skill is must. He said in any other job you can be a bit reluctant to your dressing and communications. But with the kind of job medical representative do comes with more sophistication. To manage all this while travelling different locations is tough. Sometimes he faces problem with appointment also and have to wait a long for a single visit. Patience is the best ingredient you should have when you are selling something. Also not every day is same; someday you don’t even proper response from the Doctors and other medical officers. The very next day after that is very tough; you need great motivation and confidence to come out with that rejection. In two years he have done tremendous and got many incentive hikes but he also described about the moments when he could not sale anything in a month and his manager shouted him like anything. He got so frustrated that he decided to quit the job then his senior manager make him understand that if you are being in sales that moment can come where you can’t, but there you need to know why you can’t? Where is the real problem? Introspection of yours can help you out. He figured out that the way he interact earlier with his target customers i.e. Doctors and customers are have changed, as he started meeting targets he became casual about his job. As soon he came to know about his behavior he tried to change and he said to me. IF YOU WANT TO CHANGE THINGS AROUND YOU, FIRST OF ALL START CHANGING YOURSELF. As I about to shoot another question- He got call for his appointment, in flash of seconds he stood up and with a confidence he enters inside to meet his target.
I quickly tried to revise the session I had with a salesman to summon it here: The two strikes me most and they are:
PATIENCE
CHANGE
