Saturday on 11th feb, time- 6:45pm, place- a mobile shop in vashi
navi Mumbai. I went there to purchase a nokia mobile handset, in shop there were
lots of people dealing with individual salesman. I was waiting for my turn then
suddenly a voice came ‘sir come this side’, I went there to his salesman and
said about the requirements of mobile. After sometimes I chosen my handset (nokia-c2)
and gave him card for payment then he said sorry we don’t accept card, you have
to give cash, I said but I don’t have this much cash in my pocket, he said no
problem sir just after next road there is a ATM you can withdraw from there I
also come with you.
Main part of story is starts from here,
we both were going to ATM then I thought this is the good time to know about
his experience in this (sales) field. At first I asked some basic introductory
questions, his name was Vijay poddar lives in boriwali and was working here
from last 2 years. I said him about myself and asked I want to know about your
experience of sales like how you manage the customers, what strategies you
include to influence them etc. He said this is not simple to influence to any
customers which comes in a shop to take different perception about their
requiring product and of course sometimes the product price is also matter,
like if you are going to purchase any costly product then before coming on the
shop you think, compare and gathers all related information about the product
but at a same time when you goes to any vada paav shop for eating then you
don’t waste that much time for such kind of homework, simple because the price
matters.
When any
customer comes in shop then your attitude with him is a first impression, how
you greet him, how you tackle him etc. Otherwise there are many shops where he
can get that product. I am here from last two years, and know about the different-2
perception of several kinds of customers. If you are a good salesman then after
2 minutes of conversation you would be able to know that he is a purchaser or
just visitor for time pass, according to that your tackling behavior would be
change automatically. Every day I sell at least 5 to 6 mobiles, where always
shows happy or smiley face to my customers and know about his or her
requirements or budget, then use convincing strategy according to the
situation.
He said my father is a
retired govt. school teacher and I am the only one who are financial support
for my family, sometimes in this it’s also true that you have lose your passion
because your product is not selling but at that time if you lost your passion
then once again starting is most difficult for you in this field, so you have
to more passionate, every tasks or business takes time for growth but it’s up
to you how early you understands the concepts or strategies of your business.
